Evening with St Louis survivors and director of Complicit

Holocaust Education Trust Ireland, in association with the SS St Louis Legacy Project, is proud to present an evening with survivors of the ship’s voyage and Robert Krakow, the director of award-winning documentary film Complicit.

The St Louis sailed from Hamburg to Miami via Cuba on 13 May 1939 with 937 Jewish refugees on board. Cuban landing documents and US visas never materialised – the ship was forced to sail back to Europe. With the outbreak of WW2, many of the original passengers of the St Louis fell victim to the Nazi ‘Final Solution’.

This evening will feature testimony from survivors of the voyage Sonja Geismar and John Shilling followed by a discussion and Q&A alongside the director Robert Krakow. Registrants will be able to view the documentary any time before the event.
