Study Visit to Kraków: 29 Oct - 1 Nov
Our study visit to Kraków and Auschwitz-Birkenau is fast approaching! From 29 October - 1 November 2024, we will be embarking on a remarkable visit to the city of Kraków, exploring the vibrancy of pre-war Jewish life in Poland, visiting the sites of the Holocaust and speaking with survivors.
Here’s some of what you can expect on the study visit:
Oświęcim and the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp complex
Led by expert guides and scholars, we walk through the grounds of both the Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau concentration camps, offering participants a powerful opportunity to reflect and discuss the history of the camp. We will also visit the town of Oświęcim, its Jewish Centre and Great Synagogue.
Galicia Jewish Museum
The study visit also incorporates the Galicia Jewish Museum in the historical Jewish district of Kazimierz as a core aspect. We will explore the complex history of Poland and the Galicia region’s Jewish communities, gaining a deeper understanding of their enduring legacy.
The Kraków ghetto & Kazimierz
We will also embark on a guided walking tour of the Kraków ghetto and the historical Jewish district of Kazimierz. On this tour, deep insight into life in Kraków before and after the ghetto, highlighting key sites such as the Ghetto Heroes Square and the remains of the ghetto walls.
Before and after the study visit, participants attend preparation and reflection seminars, providing the chance to ask questions and meet their fellow participants. This visit is unmissable and we encourage all interested parties - be you a WWII buff or armchair historian - to join us in Kraków!
